I wanted to provide you with an update regarding Vehicle crime (theft from or theft of), which people around your area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the priority survey. Good Morning,
I hope you are well !
I am just getting in contact with you in regards to the recent surge that we have seen in attempted thefts and thefts of motorbikes, mopeds and scooters. These thefts are normally of an optimistic nature where the thieves will ride round and looked for any parked and insecure bikes that they can target.
The thieves will also target bikes that are for sale on selling sites such as Facebook Market Place.
It only takes a matter of seconds for a motorbike to be stolen, so please make sure that when you leave your bike even if it is for a couple of minutes that you are securing them due to the ongoing issue that we are having in the Ilkeston area.
Investigations are currently ongoing for any reports of stolen bikes that we are receiving as we want to try and recover the vehicle as quick as possible to limit the chances of the bike being damaged.
If your bike is stolen or you see any suspicious activity dot put yourself at risk, call the police immediately on 999 if you see it being stolen. Please report an suspicious behaviour.
